The Alliance for Better Medicine states ion its membership form that it is a "coalition of physicians, patient advocates, ethnic healthcare organizations, and academic experts promoting advances in evidence based medicine and disease management."[1]

On its website that it "works by educating the public, healthcare consumers, and policy makers to ensure that health policies protect individualized medical care, and that cost-effectiveness or value in healthcare is determined by the total costs of treatment throught the course of an illness, or over the life of a patient or healthcare consumer."[2]


On its website ABM states that it was formed in April 2005 and that "we have had the following impacts: • "Met with California Medi-Cal officials to affirm that they would not base their decisions solely on the Oregon Drug Effectiveness Review Project reports." • "We’ve also been monitoring California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS) which has also provided funding to the Oregon study and confirmed that their formulary decisions will consider other information as well." • "Proposed new research under the California Healthcare Accountability Center to the State of California" • "We’ve held a symposium of leaders and published (and are publishing on the internet) the key findings".[3]
