Daniel Pearl

Daniel Pearl, a journalist for the Wall Street Journal, was abducted in Karachi on January 23, 2002, while attempting to meet with militant extremists. He was confirmed to be dead on February 21.

Born on October 10, 1963, in Princeton, N. J., Pearl attended Stanford University from 1981 to 1985, as communication major with Phi Beta Kappa honors, co-founded a student newspaper the Stanford Commentary. After graduating from Stanford, he spent a summer as a Pulliam Fellow intern at the Indianapolis Star and joined the Wall Street Journal in 1990.
