David Suratgar, "Chairman of Medicapital Bank Plc, and also member of the Board of BMCE Bank and Senior Adviser to the Chairman

"David Suratgar served as a senior attorney in the World Bank's Legal Department (1964-1973) and has also acted as legal advisor to the Bank of England and UK Treasury, to the European Investment Bank and to the European Commission (DG1). He served as Director of Morgan Grenfell (1973-1997), and as Deputy Chairman, Deutsche Morgan Grenfell International, from 1992-1997. He co-headed the Bank's Middle East Department and then established and headed Morgan Grenfell's export and project finance departments and also its public sector advisory and privatisation department. He served as Senior Adviser to the President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) and assisted in developing the project finance policies and legal documentation.

"David is actively involved in the work of professional, cultural and charitable organisations. He is a member of the Board of the International Institute for Environment and Development and of Lead International. He is a member of the Board of the Major Projects Association and of the Garsington Opera Company. He is a member of the Council of the Royal Institute of International Affairs and of its Executive Committee. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the International Law Institute. He has written extensively on project finance and financial law and is the author of 'Default and Rescheduling - Sovereign and Corporate Borrowers in Difficulty' (1983) and co-author of 'International Financial Law'. He is an international trustee of George Washington University in Washington D.C. He was Adjunct Professor of International Financial Law at Georgetown University, lectured at NYU Law School and at the Hague Academy of International Law, and visiting professor at the University of Georgia School of Law."
