Joshua S. Reichert Managing Director, Pew Environment Group for the Pew Charitable Trusts.

"Joshua Reichert heads the Pew Environment Group, which focuses primarily on addressing the problems of climate change, the preservation of large intact wilderness ecosystems, and the protection of the global marine environment.

"Prior to joining Pew in 1990, Dr. Reichert held various positions within both governmental and non-governmental organizations including serving as executive director of the National Security Archive in Washington DC; vice president for conservation at Conservation International; regional representative of the Inter-American Foundation, a public corporation that provides assistance to the urban and rural poor in Latin America and the Caribbean; and special assistant to the chairman of the sub-committee on foreign appropriations of the U.S. House of Representatives.

"Dr. Reichert is the chief architect and founder of various environmental organizations including Oceana, the National Environmental Trust, SeaWeb, Earth Force, the Ocean Law Project, the Pew Center on Global Climate Change, Clear the Air, the Campaign for America's Wilderness, the Pew Institute for Ocean Science, the Ocean Wildlife Campaign, and the Pew Oceans Commission.

"Additionally, Joshua Reichert is the author of over 60 publications and has co-produced a number of films on the plight of fisheries and other problems affecting marine ecosystems worldwide. His work has been published in over 100 newspapers throughout the United States, and he has appeared on ABC World News Tonight, PBS’s NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, Fox News, and National Public Radio’s All Things Considered and Marketplace.

"Dr. Reichert holds an undergraduate degree in applied behavioral sciences from the University of California at Davis, and both a Master’s and Ph.D. in social anthropology from Princeton University." [1]
