Sheldon Berman "has been Superintendent of the Hudson (MA) Public Schools since 1993. As superintendent, he initiated innovations in civic education, social-emotional learning, service learning, mathematics and science reform, high school restructuring, teacher evaluation, and computer technology. A Past-President of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendents (MASS), Dr. Berman is the recipient of numerous awards, including the American Association of School Administrators’ Massachusetts Superintendent of the Year Award for outstanding leadership and achievement (2003) and President’s Technology Award for vision and leadership in technology integration (2005). Prior to coming to Hudson, Dr. Berman was founder and President of Educators for Social Responsibility. He is the author of Children’s Social Consciousness (1997) and Promising Practices in Teaching Social Responsibility (1993) as well as numerous articles and book chapters on civic education, character education, service-learning, virtual education, and education reform. Dr. Berman received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin in Madison and his Masters and Doctoral degrees in Education from Harvard University." [1]
